The Gingerbread Man Story is a folk tale about a gingerbread man who comes to life. In the story, he runs away from the woman who baked him and leaves her house. The story is told through a series of repetitive scenes, as Gingerbread runs away from more and more characters until finally there is a large crowd chasing him. Every time the Gingerbread Man meets a new character, he repeats the refrain: "Run, run, as fast as you can." You can't catch me. I am the gingerbread man. The first version of the story appeared in the American publication St. Nicholas Magazine in 1875. However, there were several variations of the story that circulated in many different cultures around the world. Today it is reflected in a variety of cakes, cookies and figurines Lemax.
